Weekly Preview for September 6th - 10th
Hello POD 6.4 Parents! For Good of the Cause: 1. Thank you to all who attended Open House on Thursday. It was fantastic to see you all! 2. McKelvie School Picture Day: 3. Intramurals: McKelvie Intramurals are back! We have four fantastic opportunities for your child to get involved at McKelvie during our first quarter. Please look over THIS DOCUMENT with the descriptions of what is being offered. Due to high demand, we do have a limit of the number of students who are able to participate each quarter. First quarter intramural sign-ups will open on Wednesday, September 8th at 7:00p.m. Please note that if your child is put on the waitlist, they will be automatically placed in the intramural for the 2nd quarter. You will be notified within a couple of days if your child is in. Please direct any questions to Amy Francis at francisa@sau25.net. Language Arts: Students will continue reading our first class read aloud, Crash. Students will also continue to do some work in grammar as well as with their individual novels. There is no assessment scheduled at this time. Science: Students will "launch" into their Forces in Motion Unit this week! There is no assessment scheduled at this time. Math Class: Students will continue with Unit 1 on Numerical Expressions. We will continue with Long Division at the beginning of the week, and work towards Lesson 1.2 on Exponents towards the end. Students will also continue working on their Number Vocabulary Posters. A due date for this will be announced by the end of next week.There is no assessment scheduled at this time. Math Excel Class: Students will continue with Green Book Unit on Numerical Expressions. We will progress through Lessons 1.2 and 1.3 to begin the week, and will be aiming to take the 1.1 - 1.3 Unit Quiz next Friday, September 10th. Donahue Social Studies - Students will turn in their first project of the year on Wednesday, 9/8! Students will also explore what a Community is, what Groups are and how both are intertwined in the big picture of Society. There is no assessment scheduled at this time.
